Patrick "Pat" A. Jones

Patrick Anthony Jones passed away on August 19, 2024, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was visited and comforted by many family members, friends, and co-workers.

Patrick was born on February 11, 1963, at St. Johns Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He was the first-born child to Dennis and Marie (Richard) Jones.

He was raised in Fargo and there he attended grade school and junior high. Later in 1976, the family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and in 1981, he graduated from Red River High School.

According to his high school friend Steve Gurule, Patrick was the captain of the swim team for several years and he was a lifeguard at local swimming pools. He also worked at the Columbia Mall at McDonalds where he grew a group of new friends. His friend Steve said that Patrick had a pre-1964 US Collection of silver coin fortune. He said Pat sold it for a trip to Disney World.

He attended UND for several years and belonged to a fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) where he made many more friends that he kept in contact with throughout the years.

He moved to the Twin Cities in 1989 and worked in construction and as a head chef in several restaurant venues. He obtained his A+ CompTIA Certification in the year 2000 for Information technology specialist (IT).

He was employed with the US Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis for over 24 years.

Patrick was a valued employee and had an excellent work ethic, was a team player, volunteered regularly for special projects, and was loved by his peers.

He loved cooking, preparing food and gathering with friends and family to share a meal.

He loved being in the water where he spent time fishing with friends, but he especially loved his annual fishing trips with his cousins and uncle that brought him joy to partake in the cooking of the catch of the day!

Patrick has a great love for animals and dearly loved both his cat Oko, but he was especially fond of his beloved dog Opi, who was the light of his life!

He was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings and never missed watching them on T.V. and cried when they lost.

Patrick had a profound love for music and attended regular concerts in music venues, spending quality time in those venues with many good friends he made through his life. 

He is proceeded in death by his father Dennis Jones (2004) and his mother Marie Teresa (Richard) Jones (2013).

He is survived by his wife Carolina Mata Jones, Minneapolis, MN, Siblings: Angela “Angie” Jones, Greg Jones, Chris Jones of Grand Forks, ND; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He will be missed everyday by those who knew and loved his kind soul.

For those who are going to be in attendance at the funeral or wake, please feel free to wear Hawaiian Print Shirts and attire in memory of Pat.
