Patricia O'Donnell

Patricia Joanne (Pat) O’Donnell, 76, died April 12, 2025, at home in Grand Forks, ND following a long illness. Pat was born August 28, 1948, to Joseph and Marilea (Burkett) Boyce in Canton, Illinois. She graduated from Canton High School in 1966 and from the University of Iowa School of Pharmacy in 1971. Pat married John Dennis (Denny) O’Donnell on May 29, 1971, and they made their home in Grand Forks. They have one son, Troy.

Pat was proud of her work as a pharmacist for Skip’s Budget Drug and as the founding pharmacist of UND Student Health Pharmacy. She retired from UND in 2015. Pat loved her garden and her book clubs and her greatest joy was being helpful to people, especially to the youth in the community. She was recognized with the Kiwanis Service to Mankind award for her volunteer work with young people. In recent years she especially enjoyed providing cookies for the Juvenile Assessment Center and cooking dinner for the residents of LaGrave on First.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Denny and son Troy and by one brother Joe Boyce of Canton, IL. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service.
