Patricia (Patt) Dusing of Grand Forks passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, with loving family at her side. Patricia Joyce McLane was born August 15, 1941, to George Manning McLane and Marguerite Ellen (Perron) McLane in Graceville, Minnesota.
Patt grew up and attended school in Browns Valley Minnesota, graduating in 1959. Patt’s love of playing the clarinet in band brought her together with her future husband. She married her best friend, neighbor and love of her life Larry Dusing on August 29, 1959. Through this union they were blessed with six beautiful children. Natalie Dusing Smith, Austin, TX; Shawn Dusing (Patty), Farwell, MN; Dalene Monsebroten (Kevin), Newfolden; MN; Lynette Wagner (Brian) East Grand Forks, MN; Nicole Brown, Williamsburg, VA; Latisha Spanier (Eric), Moorhead, MN.
Patt was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking and sharing her goodies with family and friends. Everyone asked her to share her recipes, but nobody could make it like she did. Other favorite past times she enjoyed with her husband were dancing, fishing, deer hunting, harvest season (and preparing the best sandwich sack lunches) bowling and pinochle (that earned her the title of Mrs. Pinochle). Patt enjoyed taking trips with Larry with some of the special highlights being Hawaii, the California Redwoods, Crater Lake, Lake Tahoe and NAPA Valley. She enjoyed traveling all over to watch their grandchildren’s sporting events and music activities. Their love of music brought them to many concerts that they enjoyed. So many cherished memories were had with her children and grandchildren that were the center of her life playing cards and marbles that were the entertainment highlights of family get-togethers.
Patt is survived by her husband of 65 years, six children, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, sister Shirley Smith, sister in laws, brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Phyllis Haanen, Kathryn Wyman, Georgia Zietlow, George “Buzz” McLane, Betty Hedrick, Robert McLane.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Valley Senior Living on Columbia and hospice of the Red River Valley for their kindness, support and care provided to our beloved matriarch.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
