Pamela Jean Pate, 73, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, surrounded by friends, at Altru hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. 

Pam was born on March 27, 1951, in Hobbs, NM. At 2 years old she was adopted by Thomas and Jean (Adams) Pate. After graduating from high school Pam attended Brook Haven Community College in Farmers Branch, TX, with an emphasis in accounting. Pam worked various jobs as a secretary, but her favorite employment was at the police department investigation unit. 

In the early 1970s Pam gave birth to her son, Thomas Heath. On November 27, 1985, Pam decided to quit drinking and she started attending Alcoholics Anonymous. She took great pride in living by the AA principles. 

Pam moved to Grand Forks, ND in 2007. She worked at the GF Senior Center as director secretary. In 2020 she moved to East Grand Forks where she resided until the time of her death. Pam’s constant companion was her cat Ginger, who passed away in May, 2024.

Pam is remembered for her strong commitment to sobriety, her love for old tv shows, and for being stubborn (her words). Pam’s favorite slogans are: Easy Does It, One Day at a Time, and The Promises Do Come True. 

Pam is survived by her son Thomas Heath Pate, Edin Prairie, MN; cousin Eddy Pate, TX; her very special friend Harvey Haigh, TX, and large recovery family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jean Pate; Ginger, her beloved cat.
