Norris I. Anderson, 91, Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Altru Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Norris, the son of Isaac and Gunhild (Qualley) Anderson was born in Fisher, Minnesota on June 30, 1928. He graduated from Fisher High School in 1946 before enlisting in the Army in July of 1948.
Norris served during the Korean War in the US Army Infantry. He was proud of his service and continued to be involved with military organizations after his discharge in June of 1954. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion.
Norris and Elsie Palya were united in marriage on June 23, 1956 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Tabor, Minnesota. They lived in Grand Forks for 63 years following their marriage.
For 35 years, Norris was a Real Property Administrator at the Grand Forks Air Force Base until he retired in 1989.
Norris is survived by his wife, Elsie, Grand Forks; sons, Dean (Linda) Anderson, Grand Forks, and Darren (Sheri) Anderson, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Travis, Nicole, Kaitlyn, and Abigail.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arnold (Nettie) Anderson, Tharald Anderson, Oscar Anderson, Tommy (Lois) Anderson; sisters Alice (Julian) Larson, Bella (Joe) Sherette, Emma (Norman) Salverson, and Alma (Al) McKay.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2019 at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment with military honors will be at Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to United Lutheran Church or the Altru Cancer Center.
