Norma J. Dugas, 87, Grand Forks, died Friday, October 25, 2019 at Valley Senior Living on 42nd St., Grand Forks.
Norma Jane Bemenderfer, the daughter of Ralph Valentine and Maggie Ruth (Shearer) Bemenderfer, was born on January 2, 1932 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks, and graduated from Central High School. Norma married Wilson Byars in January, 1950 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They made their home in Grand Forks. Mr. Byars died in August, 1966. Norma married Jerome Dugas in August, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mr. Dugas died in January, 1997.
Norma was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Grand Forks. She was an Altru Hospice Volunteer for many years. Norma was an active member of the DAV Auxiliary, serving several local offices including Commander for several terms, and also served as the State Treasurer.
Norma is survived by her five children, four step-children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her brother, Robert Bemenderfer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Baker and parents.
Memorial Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to Altru Hospice or the Alzheimers Association.
