Norma Dillenburg

July 16, 1930 — June 14, 2021

Norma Jane (Clementson) Dillenburg was born July 16, 1930, in Erskine, MN to Joseph and Nellie Clementson.  After graduating from Fosston High School in 1948 she attended Bemidji State University and Interstate Business College in Fargo.   She married Cyril J. Dillenburg on June 12, 1953.  The family lived in Chicago, Duluth and Little Falls, MN before moving to Grand Forks in 1963.  They moved to Crookston, MN in 1967, returning to Grand Forks in 1980.

Norma was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Altru Hospital Auxiliary where she served on the board and volunteered, Grand Forks County Homemakers, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.  At her P.E.O. 50-year tribute, her P.E.O sisters referred to her as their “Guiding Light.”  Her interests included attending lectures of all sorts, going on Elderhostel excursions, and most of all she loved being with her family.  She was a wonderful cook with a discerning eye for exceptional dessert recipes, had a great sense of humor, told a good story, wrote and sent lovely cards and letters, and diligently kept track of beloved family and friends near and far.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son James Stephen Dillenburg, parents, brothers Willard, John and Arvid, and her two sisters Marion Clementson and JoAnne Thompson.  She is survived by her children Charles, Stephanie and Andrea, sisters-in-law Edna Mae Clementson and Joan Schweitzer, brother-in-law Hayden Thompson and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
