East Grand Forks, MN mourns the loss of Nicholas Allan Minske, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend who passed away at Altru Hospital on Friday, June 21st, 2024. Nick's journey began on April 11, 1989, when he was welcomed as the 2nd child to Jill and Stuart Minske in Grand Forks, ND. He was a cherished individual known for his kind demeanor, willingness to help others, and his infectious sense of humor.
Nick grew up in East Grand Forks where he graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High with the Class of 2008. In his senior year of high school, he met and started dating Rachel Lei Wickersham who he later married at Sacred Heart in East Grand Forks on December 1st, 2012. To this union, 5 children were born: Ella Leanne, Claira June, Harley Allan, Jolene Marie, and Ruthie Ann.
Nick's life was dedicated to his family, friends, and work at Stuart's Towing and Repair, where he started alongside his father, Stuart. Over the years, he evolved into an irreplaceable member of the team. His commitment and passion for his career were evident to all who knew him.
Nick found joy in various hobbies and interests. When he was younger, he participated in many demolition derbies in Warren, Hallock, Roseau, and Fertile, winning the Grand Slam in Hallock, MN. He later became a familiar face at the River Cities Speedway, advancing to race in the Street Stock and Late Model classes. His distinctive "1M" logo still adorns many vehicles today as a testament to his racing legacy. Nick passed on his love for racing to his children, serving as crew chief for their go-kart races.
Nick also cherished moments spent with family and friends, particularly during deer hunting season when he imparted his love for hunting onto his children. An adventurer at heart, Nick embarked on exhilarating motorcycle rides along numerous renowned highways like Tail of the Dragon and Twisted Sisters among many others. He also loved hitting the slopes on snowboarding trips with his friends in MN, MT, and CO. His zest for life and exploration inspired all those around him.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Minske; children: Ella, Claira, Harley, Jolene, and Ruthie Minske; parents: Stuart and Jill Minske; siblings: Paula Minske and Joel (Jordyn) Minske; in-laws: Mike and Kim Wickersham, Amanda (Jim) Fay, and Brandi (Jordan) Osmundson, as well as grandparents: June Minske, Joyce and Darrel Qualley, Gale and Darlene Gruhot; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other individuals who held Nick dear to his heart.
Nick is preceded in death by his Grandpa Mylo and his beloved dog Spot. A visitation is scheduled at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks from 5:00-7:00pm on June 27th with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:30am on Friday, June 28. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.Nick's memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched countless lives with his kindness and unwavering spirit.
May the River Cities Speedway echo with the roar of engines in honor of Nick Minske.
