Nancy J Rynestad

Nancy J. Rynestad, age 81, resident of Grand Forks, ND, died on January 17, 2025, at Valley Senior Living on 42nd.

Nancy JoAnne Dorsher was born on January 28, 1943, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Ruth (Thompson) and Donald “Gus” Dorsher. She graduated from Central High School in 1960 and later attended Aaker’s Business College.

Following her education, Nancy married Benton “Bob” Rynestad, and together they spent 63 years of marriage. They had four children: Becky, Robert, David, and Patti. Over the years, Nancy worked in various roles, including homemaker, bookkeeper for BR Chemical, interior painter and wallpaper installer and housekeeper at Altru Hospital.

Nancy’s warm and loving spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was deeply compassionate and always ready to help others. As the heart of her family, she was a devoted caregiver—kind, quiet, sincere, hardworking, and a loving mother.

She is survived by her husband, Benton “Bob” Rynestad; brother, James (Anne) Dorsher; children: Becky (Mitch) Anderson, Robert (Stephanie) Rynestad, David (Tess) Rynestad, Patti (Keith Rygg) Lund; grandchildren: Alek (Natasha) Anderson, Grant Anderson, Brock (Paige) Anderson, Payton Lund, Willow (Jace) Rynestad, Wyatt (Courtney) Rynestad, Wythe Rynestad, Hanna (Jayson) Hruska, Hyatt (Autumn) Hruska; and four great-grandchildren: Maggie Anderson, Carson Rynestad, Jaci Willson and Brantley Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Gus Dorsher; sister, Vicki Kavadas and two grandchildren, Weston Rynestad and Angel Lund.

A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 PM at Amundson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at Amundson Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park North Cemetery in Grand Forks.
