Milton E. Derman, 95, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Milton Eldon Derman was born September 3, 1927, in Anamoose, ND the son of Thomas and Carolina Derman. He was raised in Anamoose and graduated from Anamoose High School. He enlisted in the Navy serving two tours, including over a year on the USS Atka AGB-3. He graduated from business school in Fargo, ND. He moved to Grand Forks and married Marie Werre on November 2, 1952. His longest employment was with Rudh Brothers Furniture in East Grand Forks. He worked at UND until his retirement and assisted his wife, Marie, with her AVON business for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, traveling and was a devoted fan of UND sports. Milt was also involved in many choirs and toured with a quartet over a period of many years, singing tenor and spreading the hope and love of Jesus. Most importantly, he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Marie Derman, Grand Forks, ND; children, Dori (Jeff) Beller, Ventura, CA, Lynn Derman, Bismarck, ND and Mike (Kim) Derman, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Chelsey (Gerald) Shutske, Fargo, ND, Joshua Beller, Ventura, CA, Aaron Derman, Bismarck, ND and Hannah (Erik) Bertram, Bismarck, ND; great-grandchildren, Miles, Evelyn and Cora Shutske, Fargo, ND and Acelynn Bertram, Bismarck, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gilbert Derman, sisters Adalene Dockter and Millicent Deans.
Funeral service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Grace Baptist Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy Funeral Honors Team.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND
