Michael Mercado, 28, of Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, in his apartment in Fargo, North Dakota. He was a beloved and devoted father, son, and brother.
Michael was born in Plaridel, Bulacan, Philippines, on January 6, 1996. He relocated to Grand Forks, North Dakota with his mother and sisters on November 23, 2003, where he grew up and graduated from Central High School. He later relocated to Lisbon, North Dakota and then Fargo, North Dakota where he raised his daughters; DeLaney and Oakley, and son; Milo.
Michael proudly participated in JROTC in high school and later served in the National Guard for 11 years, deploying in 2021. He returned back to Fargo, North Dakota after deployment. He earned multiple awards over the course of his military career.
Michael was known for his unique blend of stoicism and light-hearted nature. He was passionate about fitness, gaming, his military accomplishments but most importantly his children. He was a devoted and passionate father. He worked tirelessly to provide for his children and wanted to provide them with everything he never had. He would light up when talking about or was around his children.
Michael’s legacy lives on through his daughters; DeLaney, Oakley; his sons Milo, and an unborn baby boy; three sisters, Michelle, Maricar, and Melissa; his mother, Virginia; as well as many relatives and friends.
