Mary N. Knutson, 93, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
Mary Noreen Miller was born March 29, 1926 in Kerkhoven, MN to Pierre A. and Hannora (Kennedy) Miller. She wed J. Thomas Knutson on October 11, 1947 in Murdock, MN. For the next 10 years they lived at Eagle Lake, MN where their family grew with the birth of 8 children. The family later moved to North Dakota residing first in Jamestown, and eventually settling in Grand Forks in 1971.
Mary was proud of her strong Catholic faith, of her husband Tom and their 45 years of marriage, of her children and their spouses, and of the 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren that she was blessed with. She lived a life dedicated to her family and to serving others, and her involvement in the Al-Anon program was a very important part of her life. She volunteered in different church, school, and community events, and worked as a nurse’s assistant and secretary at various places. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, attending school and sporting events of her grandchildren, and visits from her loving family which included many Miller and Knutson nieces and nephews. She grew especially close to her caregivers at Good Sam's and Woodside Village. We will never forget her sparkling blue eyes, warm smile, and tender heart.
