Mary L. Just

Mary Liska Just, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Grand Forks.

Mary was born March 23, 1935, in Coaldale, Alberta to John and Julia (Metros) Liska. Following her high school graduation, she worked in the healthcare system and at JoAnn Fabrics.

Mary married Melvin Just on June 29, 1957. The couple was blessed with four children: Sharlene, Linda, Susan, and Melvin John.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharlene Just of Montana, Linda Just (Don) of Texas, Susan Just (Dan) of Minnesota, and Melvin John (Tuesday) Just of Minnesota; five grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, John and Julia Liska; two sisters; and two brothers.

Mary had a zest for learning. Proof of that testament was attending the University of North Dakota later in life to attain a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Mary was a dynamic person who held many talents, among those being polka dancing, crafting, quilting and crocheting. The handmade gifts to family, friends, and a multitude of people she met over the years will be a constant reminder of her love for others!

Mary is at peace with her forever love, Melvin. Together on this earth, they enjoyed 66 years, 8 months, 6 days, and 13 hours of marriage.
