Marvin Andrew Moen
July 24, 1932 – August 7, 2019
Marv Moen, 87, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully August 7th at Valley Elder Care following a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Marv was born to Martin and Georgia Moen and raised on a farm near McCanna, ND. As a young man he joined the army and served his country while stationed in Germany for 2 years following WWII. He met the love of his life, and married Marlys Nelson in 1959. He was employed as a master electrician for many years in Grand Forks, and was very generous with his time and electrical talents volunteering for friends, family, and his church.
Marv is survived by his wife Marlys, daughters Merrilee (Steve) Horton and Laurel “Lol” (Doug) Prince; two grand-children Andrew & Holly Prince, Sister Eunice Fugleberg, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Curt, sisters Marion and Ada.
Marv enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working on projects with all his tools, spending time with family and friends, chopping down trees, and loved being with his grandkids. He loved telling stories, spending time at the family cabin, playing cards, watching the sunset, and living life to the fullest. He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity, and will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Visitation will be held at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10 am, a Memorial Service at 11 am, and followed by lunch at 12 pm. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
