MARLYN ELWOOD DUDEN
Marlyn Elwood Duden was born August 13th 1943 In Crookston, MN to Claus & Gladys Duden. They lived on a Farmstead outside of Euclid, MN, where he attended elementary school. He attended Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. After completing his education, he enlisted in the Army National Guards through the end of 1969.
On April 18, 1964 Marlyn was married to Eunice Skrogstad. They lived in Crookston where he started to work for Burlington Northern Railroad in 1967. In 1980 they moved to East Grand Forks, MN and in 1997 to Grand Forks, ND. Marlyn retired from the Railroad after 36 years.
Marlin loved to play cards, Pinochle being his favorite. He enjoyed daily walks, country music, campfires, RV shows, racing, wrestling, trains and tractors. He spent many years hunting, driving motorcycle and snowmobile, going to the lake and camping.
He volunteered at the Grand Forks Senior Center. Marlyn enjoyed the company of family, many friends and neighbors. His beautiful blue eyes and smile would light up each visit, even over the phone with his granddaughter, Ashley. They had a very special connection. He gave the tightest hugs, and will be remembered as a very strong man. His Family would like to Thank You All for being there for him.
Marlyn Passed on Saturday, December 8th 2018 at Valley Eldercare Nursing Home under Hospice care, where he will be missed by many.
Marlyn is survived by one daughter Brenda Bachman (Tim), Detroit Lakes, MN and one son Brian Duden, Murfreesboro,TN and granddaughter Ashley Vondal (Brett), Gilbert, AZ, step granddaughter Nikki Stotesbery, Sioux Falls, SD. Also surviving are one brother Kenneth (Joanne) Duden, North Mankato, MN. and Nieces and Nephews and his Best Friend, Doris Roy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one daughter Lori Ann.
There will be a Memorial Services held at Amundson Funeral Home on Tuesday Dec. 11th 2018 at 1:00pm, visitation will begin at noon.
