Marlin “Jake” Leroy Jacobson, 83, passed away on Sunday, July 21, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Marlin was born on December 2, 1940, to Harvey and Inez (York) Jacobson in Perth, ND. He graduated from Egeland High School and went on to receive a degree in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota. Marlin was married to the love of his life, Sally (Martin), for 61 years. Together, they raised three children: Rob (Kim) Jacobson, Wesley (Dana) Jacobson, and Kathleen (Kim) Pedersen. Marlin loved his wife, children, and ten grandchildren with all his heart.

Throughout his working years, Marlin measured crop acreage, worked as an assistant manager at Woolworth Company, as a meat cutter at Piggly Wiggly, with King News and General Tobacco and Candy in book and magazine sales and delivery, and as an airplane builder and trainer at Cirrus Design.

Marlin enjoyed being involved with the PTA, Boy Scouts, Emerado Presbyterian Church, bowling, watching his kids and grandkids in their sports and activities, completing puzzles, and volunteering.

Marlin was loved by many and always found (or made) a friend to talk to. Marlin was “one of the good guys” and will be missed by all who knew him, his infectious smile, and his quick wit. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Harlen), sisters-in-law (Deanna, Joyce, Bonieta), and granddaughters (Martell and Natalie Jacobson; Nora Pedersen).

Marlin is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren (Sydney, Reed, and Tate Jacobson; Bryn Jacobson and Madilyn Wood; Kamilla and Annika Pedersen).

Funeral services will be held at Amundson Funeral Home (2975 S. 42nd Street, Grand Forks) on Thursday, July 25 at 11 a.m. with Visitation one hour prior. Interment will immediately follow at Emerado Cemetery.
