We are saddened to announce that Mark Steven McLaren, 67, of Grand Forks, died Sunday, April 14,2024 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born November 30, 1956, in Key West, FL to Leo J McLaren and Shirley (Ackerson) McLaren. The family settled into Grand Forks, ND where Mark completed school at Central High School.
Due to growing up 1 of 5 close knit Siblings he was always friendly and charismatic where you could count on silly one liners, a definite fart joke and his handsome cheeky smirk.
He married Cherie (Kennedy) McLaren in 2004, together with their children they enjoyed a quiet family life with many hobbies. Mark loved sharing his passion for hunting and the great outdoors with his children and on the weekends could usually be found at their Lake Cabin.
His grandchildren loved him for his sweet and kind nature and the constant good times that they shared together.
Mark was proud of his career where he was a Welder and Machine Fabricator at Tri Steel for 33 years.
His final years proved to be his greatest challenges. After recovering from a broken back and beating Lymphoma in 2023 he ailed and passed away from the effects of Pneumonia and Lung Disease.
He is survived by his Wife Cherie McLaren, Children Angela (Patrick) Barrett, Nicole (Ryan) Brathwaite, Shane McLaren (Julia Skjerva) and Lucas McLaren. Sister Lonna (Jan) Skyberg, Brothers Dan McLaren and Tim (Julie) McLaren, Honorary Brothers, Jim Haller and Jeff Sundeen and His 14 Grandchildren, Alexander, Leo, Genevive, Vivian, DJ, Ruby, Braylon, Keaton, Jake, Kayden, Elijah, JoHanna, Zayvior and Ashtyn and his many adored nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Proceeded in Death by his Son Damien Scott, Mother Shirley, Father Leo, Brother Lynn, Sister-in-Law Karen, Mother-in-Law Ruth Schneibel, Nephew Ryan Landvik and many others he loved and cherished.
Services will be held Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 2pm at Amundson Funeral Home Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
