Marian June (Waxvik) Schneeweis, 91, Grand Forks died Feb 8, 2020 in Valley Senior Living Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND. Marian was born June 26, 1928 in Grand Forks, ND to Oscar and Alpha (Johnson) Waxvik. She was raised in Grand Forks and baptized March 18, 1929 and confirmed on May 16, 1942 at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Marian attended school at Roosevelt, South Junior and graduated from Central High School. She worked at the Star Cut Rate Drugstore, the Dehydrated Egg Factory and the Chicago Café. She married Warren Arthur Schneeweis on December 31, 1946. Marian worked at the Miller’s 8th Ave grocery store, until they moved to Rugby, ND where they owned and operated the Center Motel. They returned to Grand Forks in 1965 where Marian worked at Wilson Clothing in the tailoring shop with her mother. She worked for 31 years for Straus Clothing becoming head tailor. Marian did merchandising work for 16 years retiring at the age of 85.
Mom’s interests included Hardanger needle work, volunteering at Valley Elder Care activity center and crossword puzzles. She attended Sharon Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren (1976), her parents: her brothers, Warren, Oscar II, John and Ole Kermit and daughter-in-law Lynette (Allan). She is survived by her sister Alayne (Cliff) Nelson of Crookston MN. She is survived by her children, Susan (Larry) Schaan of Bossier City, LA, Warren Allan of Grand Forks and John (Robin) of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by 6 grandsons Garrett (Crystal) Schaan and Jared (Tonya) Schaan, James and Matthew Schneeweis, Mark (Karen) Schneeweis and Paul (Stacy) Schneeweis, and 6 great grandchildren Ian Schneeweis, Sebastian Schaan, Luke Schneeweis, Kendra Schneeweis, Lauren Schneeweis and Cole Schneeweis. She is survived by her longtime companion Robert Steen. Pall Bearers include her grandsons and Jared Steen.
Prayer service will be at 2 PM February 13, 2020 at the Havig Heen Auditorium Chapel of Valley Senior Living, 4000 24th Ave So, Grand Forks with visitation 1 hour before the service. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND. Memorials are preferred to Valley Senior Living Woodside / Wheatland activities @ 4000 24th S. Grand Forks, ND 58201.
