Magdalene H. Holz, 63, passed away at her home in Grand Forks, ND, Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
Magdalene “Maggie” was born September 9, 1957, in McLaughlin, SD, the daughter of John & Helen Bruggman.
Maggie grew up on her parent’s farm/ranch with her 7 siblings and graduated from Standing Rock Community High School and then graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
She married Gary Campbell and lived in Rockford, IL and Nampa, ID where their beloved son, Robert “Bob” was born.
The family moved back to North Dakota where Maggie worked at the Developmental Center in Grafton, Development Homes and ARC in Grand Forks, and ended her career at the State of ND as a service coordinator for children and young adults.
In 1996 she married Lester Holz in Las Vegas, NV and they made their home in Grand Forks.
Maggie enjoyed gardening, reading and caring for her home. She was an avid UND hockey fan as well as a fan of the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed traveling to see hockey and baseball games. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family including trips to Europe, Aruba, Mexico and Alaska as well as numerous trips to Chicago and New Orleans.
She is survived by her beloved son, Bob Campbell of Grand Forks; siblings, Bernie (Colette) of Sacramento, CA, Viola (Doug) Wentz of Chaska, MN, Joe of West Valley City, UT, Jerome of Fort Yates, ND, Francis (Stephanie) of Wiconla, MN, Anita Hedrington of Pahrump, NV and Diana Combs of Glen Ullin, ND as well as 8 nieces and nephews and 1 great-niece on the Bruggman side of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Holz and siblings, John, Mary and Bruno.
A memorial service will take place later 2021, with inurnment at the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Fort Yates, ND.
