Lynn Perry Bye

Lynn P. Bye, age 62, resident of East Grand Forks, MN, died peacefully on March 6, 2024, at his home.

Lynn Perry Bye was born in Grand Forks, ND on October 13, 1961, to the Late Floyd and Kathleen (Chase) Bye. Lynn was raised by his parents Floyd and Marie Bye. He attended Red River High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. Following his graduation, he attended AVTI and obtained a degree in Automotive Repair. Lynn was a longtime employee of Dahlstrom Motors in Oslo, MN.

In his youth, Lynn enjoyed spending summers at his Grandmother Freida’s in East Grand Forks. He loved to go fishing at the dam and watch the Minnesota Twins. Lynn was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed most sports. He was a faithful fan of most Minnesota sport teams and as well as the UND “Fighting Sioux”!  He took every opportunity to watch his children and grandchildren play hockey and other sports throughout the years. He also served as coach for the youth hockey teams in East Grand Forks. 

Lynn is survived by his mother, Marie Bye; children: Mathew (Katy) Bye, Adam Bye, Lucas (Brittany) Bye and Dacotah (Bye) Closmore, with whom  he shared with his former wife, Debra Parent; seven grandchildren: Keira Bye, Melrose Bye, Wyatt Bye, Hudson Bye, Farrah Bye, Owen Bye and Tucker Bye; siblings: Kevin Bye, Tammy (Duane) Tenenblatt – Troutwine, Kelly Greenlees, Jeff Bye and Jill (Jeff) Perkins; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Kathleen Bye; along with both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Lynn will be missed by many in the community, but most of all his family. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Memorial Park South Cemetery.
