Lula Mae Kinney was born November 8, 1925 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Leo and Leona (Jones) Kinney. She was raised and educated in Manvel, ND. She attended Deaconess Nursing School in Grand Forks and was in one of the first graduating classes. She traveled to Washington D.C. to work as a nurse during WWII. Lu met Paul Bry in Manvel and they were married on February 27, 1949. They resided in Grand Forks where Lu worked for 20 years as a nurse, first in a doctor’s office at the Grand Forks Clinic and in the surgery department at Deaconess Hospital. She then worked as a nurse at the UND Medical Center Rehabilitation for 20 years until the time of her retirement. She was a life-long nurse, caring for Paul in his last years. She and Paul liked to square dance in their younger years and they also enjoyed Curling. She especially loved to play cards, visit and talk. She was a member of United Lutheran Church and served her faith community as a Stephen Minister for many years. She enjoyed music of all types, listening to Paul’s barbershop singing and attending numerous musical performances of all types over the years. Survivors include her children, Dan (Paula) Bry, Rockford, IL, Debbie Bry, Albuquerque, NM, and Doug Bry, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Susan (Brian) Caravello, Patti (Ryan) Kolbo, Keith (Alyssa) Bry, Kyle (Anita) Bry, Carly Reese, and Miranda Bry; great grandchildren, Mya and Lauren Caravello, Zach, Abby and Noah Kolbo, Caden, Keiran, Kolton and Kinley Bry, Emma and Chloe Bry, and Ansel Nicholas. Lula was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on May 11, 2015; and siblings, Edna, Howard, Raymond, Jay, Bob, Leila, Leroy and Bill. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2022 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30 PM up until the time of the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
