Luke Ian DuBray, age 33, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Luke was born July 7, 1988, in Helena, Montana. Luke grew up most of his life in the beautiful state of Montana before later moving to South Dakota and then North Dakota. He loved the outdoors and was an avid marksman and archer. Luke loved his family deeply and devoted himself to the role of being a father to his 3 young children, Zeke, Jaidyn, and Axton. Luke was a talented artist and craftsman and enjoyed drawing, painting, and creating magic with his own hands. Luke found a passion in cooking that led to becoming a Kitchen Manager at the local Applebee’s for several years. Luke was a man who was loved by many and left a lasting impression on all whose lives he touched. Luke was a genuine person to everyone who met him and was always down to do leisure activities from swimming to barbequing and everything in between. Luke was very proud of his ethnic ancestry being of Oglala Lakota and Norwegian descent and his artistic designs were often representative of this. Luke was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a had a lifelong passion for football.
Luke graduated from Bennett County High School in Martin, South Dakota in 2007. He always wanted to design and create buildings and eventually started a program for Architectural Engineering and Design at Northland Technical College. Luke would always take something ordinary and make it his own.
Luke DuBray Is survived by his children, Ezekial “Zeke” DuBray, Jaidyn DuBray, and Axton DuBray and their mother, Rose. Also, his immediate family; mother, Susan Battershell DuBray of Grand Forks ND, father, Sylvester William DuBray of Pine Ridge, SD, four brothers, Erik Battershell (Megan), Joel DuBray (Maggie), Lakota DuBray and Wazia “Dane” DuBray (Nikki), nieces and nephews, Erek, Lilly, Ethan and Luna. Girlfriend Marcy Erickson, and her three children, Anthony, Alexys, and Jayden. Maternal grandmother, Judy Battershell, paternal grandmother, Kathy DuBray and numerous cousins, aunties, and uncles. Luke is preceded in death by his oldest brother, Chad DuBray, his maternal grandfather, Arthur Battershell and his paternal grandfather, Baptiste DuBray, Sr.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
