Louis S. Belisle, 88 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Louis was born on March 18, 1935, the son of Stephen and Ethel Belisle in Stillwater, Minnesota. He was raised and educated in Winona and graduated from Winona High School in 1953. Louis enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. He was united in marriage to Andrea Eggert on December 26, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winona, Minnesota. They had been together 71 years. Louis was stationed in Arizona and Colorado. He worked as the crew chief of the “Bomb Release System”. After receiving an honorable discharge, Louis and Andrea moved to Seattle, Washington and he began his long career with Boeing Company as a supervisor, working on missile defense systems. His job brought with it several opportunities for him and his family to live in different parts of the country: New Jersey, Montana, California, Wyoming, to name a few. After his retirement from Boeing, Louis became a consultant with the GTE Corporation in Utah. They made Grand Forks their home for many years.
Louis enjoyed traveling, family ski trips (His last trip down the slope was in his 80th year) and golfing, “a lot of golfing. (Hole in one at Lincoln golf course was one highlight!). He also enjoyed playing music with his good friend, Joe, in his later years, as well as performing with his granddaughter. For 20 years, a special treat for his daughter was when he brought his instruments to her classroom and played for her students. He would bring tiny harmonicas for the entire class when he could get them.
Louis is survived by his wife, Andrea “Andy”; Connie (Ron) Boe of Fargo, ND; Stephen (Cindy) Belisle of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Ashleigh “Pebbles” (Jeremy) Ensrud, JJ Boe, Jessie (Anthony Patterson) Belisle, Josh (Alicia) Belisle and Stephen (Megan) Belisle; great-grandchildren, Magnus and Marit Ensrud, Mike and Maddie Patterson, Hunter, Everett, Ledger, Ivy and Norah; sisters, Julieann Frickson of Minnesota City, MN; Lucille Lisius of Lake Mills, WI and June Kronebush of St. Charles, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Sanders.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Amundson Funeral Home, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, North Dakota. Interment will take place at Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota.
