Lois D. Kolstad

Lois Kolstad, 85, Grand Forks, ND, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Lois Darlene Patterson, the daughter of Elmer and Elise (Olson) Patterson was born on July 9, 1939, at Rural Erskine, Minnesota. She attended rural schools near Erskine and graduated from Erskine High School.

She married Wayne Kolstad on October 27, 1957, at Erskine. They moved to Grand Forks where Lois and Wayne raised their family. Lois was later employed by Sears in Grand Forks for many years. Wayne died on April 26, 2022.

Lois was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed reading, gardening and tending to her flower gardens. She cherished time spent among her family at the farm near Erskine. She spent many hours together with her husband cutting and stacking firewood.

Lois is survived by; her sons, Kirk Kolstad, Edward Kolstad, and Stanley Kolstad; her daughters, Carleen Porten, Eleanor Stone, and Darlene “Dari” Kolstad; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Krista, James, and Candice; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, David Patterson, Deryl (Kathy) Patterson, and Lorraine (Jerome) Sorenson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, sister-in-law, Dorothy Patterson, and brother-in-law, Gary Kolstad.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Amundson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in First Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Interment will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
