Lois Fontaine

Lois Fontaine, died Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.

Lois A Fontaine was born July 14, 1932, in Grand Forks to Thor and Mary (Keller) Larson. She was baptized in the United Lutheran Church and was also confirmed there. She sang in the Radio Choir before she joined the Cathedral Choir where she sang for quite a few years.

She Graduated from Central High School in 1950. In 1990, she graduated from Northland with a Medical Secretary Degree.

She was employed by Leever’s Super Value before she began working Hugo’s where she worked for 20 plus years. First at the East Grand Forks Store, then the South Washington Store. She also worked for G.F. Public Schools in the library at Community High School for 20 years.

She was married to Harlan D. Storey on May 19, 1951, in Columbia, Georgia. He was in the National Guard and got called up in the Korean Conflict. From this union, they were blessed with 5 children. She was then married to Wilfred Fontaine for a time.

She was a member of “Class of 50”, a few Central graduates that would get together each month for 40 years. She was also a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion, 157. Lois liked to do cross stitch, embroidering, the Grand Forks Herald crossword puzzle, picture puzzles, bingo, and reading.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan Prestegard, Janet (Steve Berrisford) Willkomm; sons: Michael Storey, Gregory Storey, Kevin (Michelle) Storey, sister Helen Sanders, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn, brothers William Larson, John Larson, Robert Larson, and son-in-law Gerald Prestegard.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at United Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
