Lisa S. Malterud

Lisa Susan Malterud, age 56, resident of Grand Forks, ND died on March 15, 2025, at her home.

Lisa Susan Strobeen was born on November 24, 1968, in Grand Forks, ND to Alan and Susan (Nyhus) Strobeen. She attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1986. She was blessed with the birth of her two children, Kelsey and Adam Strobeen. In 2001, she met the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Eric J. Malterud. They were united in marriage on Nov. 14, 2003. The size of her family doubled with the addition of Eric and his two children, Ashley and Amara.

Lisa enjoyed driving the “Purple Butterfly” bus for Head Start from the early 1990’s to the mid 2000’s. After stepping away from driving the bus, Lisa smoothly transitioned into the next stage of her life as a care giver. She continued to provide care for her ailing mother until her passing in 2014. At this time she proudly took on the name “Nanna” not only for her grandchildren, but for other family friends as well. Proudly becoming a second mother and grandmother to many.

In her spare time, Lisa always found herself to be busy. She was well known for her cooking and grilling abilities! Her Swedish meatballs and homemade dumpling soup recipes were sought by everyone that had to opportunity to taste them. She also adventured and developed other interests, such as crafting. She delighted in her community of crafting that she followed and associated with online.

Lisa is survived by her loving Husband, Eric Malterud; children: Kelsey(Gerald) Cree, Adam (Stacia Swenson) Strobeen, Ashley Malterud and Amara Malterud; grandchildren: Mackensie, Daeshawn, Chloe, Gabbie, Kay-Lee, Payton, Takara, Chancle, AJ, Asher and Thayne; one great-grandchild, Valerie; siblings: Shane (Janet) Strobeen, Laura Strobeen, Sarah Vageline and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She w as preceded in death by her mother, Susan Strobeen.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the Conference Room at the Ramada Inn (1205 N. 43rd St. Grand Forks, ND 58203) on Saturday, March 22, 2025, beginning at 11:00am.
