Linda Carol (Weippert) King

Linda (Weippert) King, 72, Grand Forks, ND, entered eternal rest on April 5, 2022, at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks.

Linda, was born December 25, 1949 in Bismarck, ND and grew up on the family farm in Robinson, the youngest daughter of John and Magdalina (Rueb) Weippert.

Linda married Larry Sorenson in 1971.  From this union came a son, Michael.  They later divorced.  On February 10, 1978 Linda married Joseph “Joe” King in Tuttle, ND and they moved to Grand Forks with Linda’s son Michael and together had a daughter, Dawn King. Linda and Joe also lived in Reynolds, ND before making their permanent home in Grand Forks. 

Linda received a degree in cosmetology and spent many years working as a hairdresser and at the Beehive in Reynolds, before beginning a career working as a lab technician at RDO Foods in Grand Forks. Over the years, Linda loved attending concerts, listening to music, playing cards, watching NASCAR, and playing pull tabs, along with being a fan of Sioux Hockey. She was also very proud to become a great-grandmother and enjoyed her trip to Milwaukee to meet her great grandson Gannon.

She is survived by: Son: Michael (Melinda) Sorenson – Minot, ND; Daughter: Dawn King - Grand Forks; Grandson: Nathan King – Bayview, WI, and Great Grandson Gannon King; brothers Wilbert (Elenora) - Peoria, IL, Clarence (Ivajean) - Mesa, AZ, Edward (Florence) - Columbus, ND; sisters Darlean “Dolly” Pierce - Fargo, Judith (Elroy) Aipperspach - Fargo and many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Joe; her parents; brothers, Eugene, Jonathan and Emil; sisters, Bertha Weippert, Ellen Thorsvig and Eldena Dunn and nephew Terry Weippert.

A graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Tuttle Cemetery, in Tuttle, ND with a lunch reception to be held immediately following at Tuttle United Methodist.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Hospice of Red River Valley thanks to the extraordinary care and compassion the entire staff provided to Linda.
