Linda C. Lundeen

Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Linda Cecelia (Smith) Lundeen, 78, passed away on January 9, 2022, at Heartland Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Linda was born in Belcourt, ND, on May 6, 1943 to Cecelia and Louis Smith, one of twelve children.  She attended school there and in Chamberlin, SD. 

Linda married James T. Lundeen, and they lived in Gilby, ND, for over 30 years before moving to Grand Forks.  They were married for 62 years and together they had five children. Linda was a hard worker, employed over the years at Simplot, RDO Farms, Listen Center, and REM ND.   Even through loss, Linda maintained her zest for life.  Her favorite things were coffee, playing bingo, squeezing babies’ cheeks, singing, dancing, and laughing, and spending time in the kitchen. Linda’s mother-in-law, Mildred, taught her how to make lefse, and she enjoyed making it for over 50 years, with Jim as her “tester”.  She especially loved her jewelry – rings, necklaces, bangles, baubles – and her Beanie Babies.  Linda was a Cub Scout leader, and a very supportive sports mom.  Most important to her were “her boys” – she would do anything for her four sons.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Lundeen, Grand Forks; sons Raymond (Teresa) Lundeen, TX; Robert (Linda Riski) Lundeen, MN; Rodney (Diane) Lundeen, Grand Forks; grandchildren Derek, Cody, Riley, Tommy, and Matthew Lundeen, Danielle Trussell; three great-granddaughters, Lily Shea and Eden Rose Lundeen, Saylor Trussell; sisters, Shirley (Ed) Spoonemore, SD; Bernadette Anderson-Myers, Grand Forks; Kathy Finneman, Grand Forks; Clara Prentice, TX; brother Francis Smith, ND; sister-in-law, Marian (Lowell) Nelson; brother-in-law, David (Kathy) Lundeen, and many nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her son, Corey Louis Lundeen; infant daughter, Rhonda Lee Lundeen; her parents, Cecelia Smith Gross and Louis Smith; her parents-in-law Julius and Mildred Lundeen; brothers, John Smith, Kenneth Smith; sisters, Rosella (Bunny) Behnkie, Betty Moen, Barbara Goulet, Debbie Mullings, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42^nd St., Grand Forks. The family encourages those in attendance to wear a mask.   Inurnment will be at a later date.
