Linda Doreen Brenner, 63, of Mekinock, ND, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Linda Doreen (Kingsford-Smith) Brenner the daughter of Richard and Lilian Kingsford-Smith was born and grew up in the Bay Area in California. Her Great Grand Uncle was Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith, in 1928, he made the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia, a route that is still used today, by major airlines.
Her family was very active with the Masons. She was a Jobs Daughter honor queen and organized many charity functions. As a young Intel worker, she was selected to show Governor Jerry Brown the process of micro chip alignment.
She had her son, Stephen Otterlei in 1983. His father was a Vietnam Vet with severe PTSD and soon became dysfunctional do to a head injury. She then moved to the Sacramento area and met her husband Louis Brenner, a first term Airman, in 1986.
Linda worked at several positions at the bases they were assigned including, Post office mail room, BX customer service rep., and one of her favorite positions was at the Shoppette (base convenient store) where she got to meet just about everyone on base. I don’t know of anyone who didn’t like or love her. She connected on a personal level with most of the customers and remembered details of them all.
Linda had many health issues, i.e. severe arthritis, knee replacement, and diverticulitis, that ultimately led to her retirement. She enjoyed spending her days taking care of her dogs (Bobby and then, Gibson) her husband and son and reading her kindle and playing computer games. She will be so, sorely missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Lou; son, Stephen Otterlie of Mekinock; mother-in-law, Leanore Brown of Georgia; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Brenner of Emerado; brother-in-law, Robert Brenner of WI and Christopher Brenner of Georgia and several nieces & nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at the Community Hall in Emerado on Saturday, December 14th from 4pm to 7pm and at 7pm we’ll head across the street to Johnny’s and have a Toast to Linda.
