Lila Benson

Lila Mae Benson, 90, Arvilla, died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Woodside Village, Grand Forks.

Lila was born November 25, 1927, the daughter of Chris and Ida (Kleven) Moen. She attended school at Wheatfield 65 and graduated from Gilby High School in 1945.

She attended St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Honeyford where she was baptized, attended Sunday School and was confirmed. On October 17, 1948, she married Donald Benson in St. Paul’s.

They made their home on the farm where she would raise her 4 children: Mark, Judy, Karen, and Dale.

Lila made the best homemade buns. Being with her family was the most important part of her life. She was also a life long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a 60 year plus member of the Blooming homemaker’s. Lila was married to a wonderful Swede for almost 70 years!

Lila is survived by her husband, Donald, her children: Mark (Pat) Benson, Karen (Jon) McMahon, Dale (Sherri) Benson, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 13 siblings, and her daughter Judy.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Honeyford, ND.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 3 to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. at the Havig-Heen Chapel at Valley Square 4000. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Honeyford, ND.
