Lawrence "Larry" Heuchert

September 12, 1930 — November 4, 2024

Grand Forks, North Dakota

Larry Heuchert, age 94, died on Monday, November 4, 2024. He was born on the family farm in Pembina County, North Dakota on September 12, 1930. His parents John and Mathilda Heuchert immigrated from Germany.

Larry attended Wahpeton State School of Science and then began a 40-year career at Minnkota Power Cooperative. He worked with many good people there and acquired countless stories for his lifetime. There he met his future wife. He married Ida Gunnarson in 1953 and they had three children, celebrating 71 years of marriage in September of this year. Both Larry and Ida were faithful members of their church and together they enjoyed countless seasons of UND sports including football, basketball, and volleyball.

Larry was an excellent Boy Scout Leader, a teacher of many life skills to his children, an early and avid recycler, and a man who enjoyed his coffee breaks and a good conversation with anyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lenora Sommer and her husband LaVerne; his brother Edwin Heuchert; and his beloved son David.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; daughters Pam (Darrell) Rundell and Nancy (Richard) Eckman; Sister-in-law Delores Heuchert; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 815 N. 20th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
