Kevin C. Waddell of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Grand Forks. Kevin was born on March 11, 1956, in Grand Forks. After graduating from Central High School in 1974, he entered the United States Navy on January 6, 1975, for active duty. He was trained as an aviation ordnance man with Fighter Squadron VF-191 at Miramar, CA, and further training at VF-103 at Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. He was assigned to three different aircraft carrier groups: The USS Oriskany, The USS Coral Sea, and The USS Saratoga. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to Grand Forks on December 28, 1978.
After working for Hanson Ford in Grand Forks for several years, he started a new career with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor and training coordinator. He retired from the BNSF in April 2018. Kevin was also an avid scuba diver and dove Lake Superior down to 105 feet.
He was united in marriage with Nadine Fuglestad and during their marriage, they had two children. Stacy passed away in October of 2004 and Brandon passed away in August of 2013. Kevin’s greatest joys in life were his two children and his friends in Grand Forks.
Kevin is survived by his brother, Rod Waddell (Doris) of Casper, WY, and his sister Susan Barron of Warren, Manitoba, Canada.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Jean Waddell, along with his two children, Stacy and Brandon.
There will be a family-directed memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Eagles Crest, at 5301 Columbia Road, Grand Forks. Military honors will follow the service.
