Kent B. Lorenz

October 23, 1956 — December 18, 2020

Kent B. Lorenz (1956-2020)

Kent B. Lorenz, 64, died on December 18th at his home.  He was born October 23, 1956 to John and Elsie Lorenz.  He grew up in Walhalla, ND, playing little league baseball.  He treasured his days in Walhalla and returned yearly to visit family and friends and to golf.

He attended college at the University of North Dakota where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. He worked in management for many years, first at Bakers Shoes, then at Ameripride, and Cintas.  Throughout his career, he used his knowledge and people skills to mentor many.

After graduating from college, he married Mary Jo Melander in 1980.  Together they had two children, Andrea and Craig.  His children were a source of great pride in his life, and he supported them in all of their endeavors.  He even went to orchestra concerts even though he hated them.  His grandchildren, Corbin and Collins, were the light of his life and he loved watching them participate in BMX racing, skating, and t-ball.

He loved running and golfing.  He ran almost every day and completed a half marathon in 2013.  In retirement, he golfed as much as he could and his perennial and favorite golf companion was his brother, John.  He finally scored a hole in one on hole 9 at Lincoln Golf Course in 2014.

His surviving family members are his wife, Mary, daughter, Andrea (Jeff Bolstad) son Craig, daughter-in-law Shalee, grandchildren Corbin and Collins.  He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

A private service will be held at Amundson Funeral Home.  www.amundsonfuneralhome.com
