Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Kearney, 74, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, surrounded by family at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Kenneth was born in Grafton, ND, the son of James A and Ovedia P. Kearney on September 17, 1947. He graduated from Grafton High School on June 2, 1965. In 1966, Kenneth enlisted into the North Dakota National Guard. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class in the 957th Engineer Company, which worked with the floating bridges. Kenneth was honorably discharged on Jan 1, 1974.
Kenneth was married to Agnes “Angie” Jensen on August 15, 1971. Together they had 2 sons they both loved and cherished. Jayson Christopher Kearney and Michael James Kearney.
Kenneth worked as a 4 color pressman for 17 years at Jet Printing, then went to Minnkota Power as a 4 color pressman. He was very fussy and particular about his jobs he printed. He worked at Minnkota from 1984 until his retirement in 2006.
He enjoyed the outdoors with his 2 sons and friends. Fishing for walleye, hunting for waterfowl, upland game, and big game. Kenneth enjoyed teaching his 2 boys all about fishing, hunting and gun safety. He enjoyed carpentry and cabinet making, and teaching his sons the basics of carpentry and cabinet making. The Kearney family has many beautiful cabinets to always remember Kenneth by.
Kenneth is survived by his sons Jayson (Theresa) Kearney, Michael Kearney, 5 grandchildren: Cassandra (Brock), Ashley (Tyler), Jordan, McKayla, and McCoy; 4 great grandchildren: Zachary, Gracie, Landon, Layton.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
