Kenneth M. Espelund, 48 of Reynolds, North Dakota died Friday, November 29, 2024, at his home.
Kenneth Micheal Espelund was born June 9, 1976, in Guam, USA, to William and Anna (Guthmiller) Espelund. In his early years, the family moved to the Grand Forks Air Force Base then shortly after to East Grand Forks making the area their home where he grew up and attended school. Ken was a man of many skills and a true jack of all trades; his strong work ethic started as a 7-year-old boy when he started working as a paper delivery boy; at age 13 he moved on to working in lawn care and snow removal. He also worked at the grain elevator in Gilby. He eventually started working for Tires Plus, which led him to his career as a service technician with Rydell where he dedicated 17 years.
Ken loved making people’s day and always had a big bright smile that would instantly light up the room. He was always willing to help his family and friends and made sure that everyone was being taken care of and that they were deeply cherished. One of Ken’s favorite things to do in his adolescent years was cruising down South Wash with his brother Dana and showing off his white Monte Carlo that he proudly maintained.
Ken is survived by his girlfriend, Tina Black and her daughter, Alyssa (Matthew Ruhl) Black ; parents, Bill and Anna; brother, Dana (Melissa Knabe) Espelund; sister, Robin (Paul) Nelson; nieces, Lillian, Elizabeth, Christine, and Kallie; nephew, Daniel; uncles, Jerry (Kathy) Guthmiller, Dale Guthmiller; aunts, Glenda (Clay) Atkinson, Carol Spitzer, Cindy (Alan) Cuellar, Miki Susnjar; grandfather, Jim Espelund; stepchildren, Dyllon (Krystal) Larson, Cody (Shelby) Larson, and Brady Larson; numerous children who called him Grandpa; beloved dogs, Rex, Odessa, Bailey, Thor, and Kaine; and cats, Domino, Sassy, and Wheatley; and many other family and friends.
