Kathy L. Vasichek, 52, Manvel, North Dakota, died Saturday, October 30, 2021 as a result of a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kathy Lea Peterson, the daughter of Walter and Evelyn (Karlstad) Peterson was born at Grafton, North Dakota on July 2, 1969. Kathy was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Grafton. She attended Westview Elementary School in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1987. She continued her education at the University of North Dakota where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and became a registered nurse. Kathy started her career at Altru Health Systems as a Nurse Co-op in 1990, later becoming a RN on 5th floor. Kathy cared for cardiac patients in the Cardiac Stress Lab since 2007. Kathy was set to retire on November 12, 2021 after 30 years of service at Altru.
Kathy married Jason Vasichek on October 4, 1996. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Jason and Kathy were blessed with a son, Tucker Jace Vasichek. They were proud to celebrate his graduation from Central High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her beloved dogs Dozer and Dexter, Photography of animals and landscapes, traveling with family and friends, campfires at the lake, watching reruns of favorite sitcoms, going to every concert possible, listening to music, weekly visits taking her mom out of long-term care to her home in Grafton and spending the day together, long walks in the country and relaxed evenings with her son and husband. She was looking forward to retiring from work after 30 years traveling with her husband and volunteering as a pet foster parent for sheltered animals.
Kathy is survived by her husband Jason; son Tucker; her mother, Evelyn Peterson, a brother Kevin Peterson (Nada); niece, Lindsey Peterson; nephew, Logan Peterson; brother-in-Law Shelby Vasichek and Shelby’s fiancé Kari Schroeder; brother-in-law David Vasichek (Shayana) Vasichek; mother and father-in-law, Darlene and John Vasichek; nephew, Saul Vasichek; niece, Marion Vasichek.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Peterson.
Kathy was a genuine honest and sincere person. She was transparent in her thoughts and loved her family and friends with all of her heart. These are qualities that will be missed greatly by her family.
A Memorial Liturgy will be at 1:00 on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks with visitation for one hour prior to the service in the church. The service will be available via livestream on the Holy Family Catholic Church website https://www.holyfamilygf.org/
