Kathleen “Kathy” Danks

Kathleen “Kathy” B. Danks, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 87 in Edgewood Assisted Living.  Her family was able to be with her during her last days.

 Kathy Brown was the tenth of ten children, born June 16, 1937, in Manvel, ND to Ruvia and Roy Brown. She was raised and educated in Manvel. Kathy met Keith Danks, and they were married for 50 years. They lived in Manvel, ND before moving to Grand Forks, ND where Kathy worked for the family moving business and raised their 3 children. They later moved to Oklahoma City, OK and then made their way back to Grand Forks in 1999. Kathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Crystal Lake near Erskine, MN and traveling the world. Kathy loved to cook for crowds large and small, especially for holidays and special occasions. Her hobbies included shopping, bird watching and gardening – especially tending to her flowers! 

She is survived by her 3 children Cheryl Danks, Craig (Nichole) Danks, and Keith Jr. (Meridee) Danks, 6 grandchildren Taralyn (Sterling), Cody (Margie), Rachel (Nam), Carson, Kylee and Maxxwell, and 5 great-grandchildren Irelyn, Bruin, Aaron, Asher, and Archie, brother-in-law Ernie Jenson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Keith Sr., her siblings, Esther “Ruvia” Keenar, Viola Gammel, Dorothy Winge, Virginia Schmitt, Joseph, George, Robert, William, Joann DeMars, Roy “Nibs” Jr. and spouses, sister-in-law Marlys Jenson and her beloved dogs (Hannah Kay, Mardi, and Tiny Tim).

 A special thank you to her caregivers that helped her over this last year. A Celebration of Life and Internment (Memorial Park Cemetery) will take place in Grand Forks, ND this spring/summer. Since Kathy loved having dogs throughout her life, memorials are suggested to go to Journey Home Animal Rescue or Grand Forks Circle of Friends Humane Society.
