Julie Anne Peterson-Neihart passed away the evening of September 29th in Grand Forks, ND, with family by her side. Julie was born January 3, 1947, to Edwin and Anne Peterson of Becker, Minnesota. Julie graduated high school and went on to earn her bachelors degree from Northern State University, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Julie was married to Thomas Neihart for 46 years, and from this union her three children were born.
Julie treasured antiques and all things old, she was truly a soul from another time. She loved to paint, a hobby which produced beautiful oil and rosemaling pieces that grace the walls and homes of her children. Julie was a fantastic cook who instilled a love for the kitchen in all of her children. She authored three family cookbooks, filled with ancestral recipes to keep her family well-fed for many generations to come. She was a gracious hostess who filled her home with laughter, and shared the joy of bringing family and friends together.
Julie is survived in life by her children David, Renee and Tommy, their father Thomas Neihart, her daughter-in-law Heidi, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, dozens of loyal friends and other family, including her beloved cousin Richard. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anne, to whom she was a most devoted daughter.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
