Judith Gayle (Thompson) Mazur, age 79, passed away at Lilac Nursing Home, Dilworth, Minnesota on Sunday, April 19, 2020, from complications due to Alzheimer’s.
Judith was born May 23, 1940, the daughter of Thelman and Geneva (Amble) Thompson of Thompson, ND. She was raised on the family farm in Thompson, ND. Judith graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1958 and attended the University of North Dakota. Judith married Garfield Beckstead in 1960 and they spent a decade together in New York City and Cleveland while Judith was working as a stock broker.
Judith met and married Richard Mazur in 1972 and the couple moved to LaCrosse, WI where Richard was a professor and Judith began selling real estate. In 1979 the couple moved to Nashua, NH where they spent 32 years together selling real estate, operating a book and antique store, and finally retirement. Judith and Richard loved traveling, gardening, cooking, reading and they were Jaguar enthusiasts and show champions in New England. Judith also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews when they visited New Hampshire. Judith moved back to North Dakota to be closer to family after husband Richard passed away in 2011.
Judith is survived by nephews Robert Thompson of St. Paul, MN; Dr. Joffrey (Maria) Thompson of Grand Forks; Jonathan Thompson of Thompson, ND; nieces Kimberley (Cameron) Snyder of New Brighton, MN; and Meghann (Kyle) Zak of Grand Forks; sister-in-law Becky (Ben) Trapnell of Grand Forks; step-sons Michael Mazur of Dallas, TX; and Mark Mazur of Madison, WI.
Judith was preceded in death by her husband Richard Mazur; parents Thelman and Geneva Thompson; her brothers Dennis and Mark Thompson; sister-in-law Bonita Thompson; a niece-in-law, Katherine Thompson.
Due to COVID-19, a private family burial at East Walle Church and Cemetery will be held later this summer.
