John Francis Murphy III, 41, died unexpectedly Sunday July 8th, 2018. John was born November 24th, 1976 in Mekinock, ND, son of John F. Jr. and Linda (Blomquist) Murphy. He grew up in East Grand Forks and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1995. He attended UND and served in the United States Army from 1998-2002, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.
In 2010, he met the love of his life, Jodi McPherson and they married June 22, 2013. They resided in Grand Forks where he worked for Midco. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan and faithful follower of the WWE, as well as an excellent cook and gifted artist. He loved fishing with his Dad and Grandpa Murphy, traveling with his wife and daughter, and will always be remembered for his quick wit and strategic sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi, his daughter, Calli (Jason Lim), his parents, John F. Jr. and Linda, sisters, Kari (Joe) Czapiewski and Kristina (Ryan) Novak, nieces and nephews, Alex and Abby Novak, Paige, Mason, and Gavin McPherson, the “nephews of his heart”, Jake and Joey Holum, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albin and Una Blomquist and his paternal grandparents, John F. Sr. and Bernice Murphy.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
