John "Jack" Roth

On December 6th, 2024, John “Jack” Edward Roth Sr., 84, was graced with eternal peace after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully with family by his side at Good Samaritan – Heritage Grove, in East Grand Forks, MN.

Jack was born on January 26th, 1940, in Grand Forks, ND, to parents Jacob and Eleanor Roth. It was here that he grew up, having attended Winship Elementary and Grand Forks Central. On October 15th, 1960, Jack married Jeanette Rondeau Roth in Pembina, ND. They made Grand Forks their home and raised their four children, John, Julie, Jeff, and Cindy. Their most cherished family memories involved time spent camping together at Stump Lake, ND. Recently, Jack and Jeanette celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Jack served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960. He was a dedicated employee at Coca Cola Bottling Company and Altru Hospital (26 years). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports (especially participating in softball and old timer’s hockey league). He was an exceptional grandfather who cherished the life and experiences of each of his grandchildren, of whom he is very proud.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette Roth, children Julie Frey, Jeff (Krystal) Roth, Cindy Sandbeck, brother Allen (Linda) Roth, sister-in-law Lorelee Roth, grandchildren Josh (Tami) Vigness, Anthony (Brandi) Vigness, Katie Vigness, Rachel Frey, Bret Roth, Ashley Roth, Chad Sandbeck, Sara (Ben) Peasley, great-grandchildren Jack Vigness, Charlie Vigness, Harper Peasley, Emma Peasley, Logan Peasley, and lifelong friends Chuck and Sandra Korsmoe.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Eleanor “Telle” Roth, siblings James “Jim” Roth Sr., Lois Schnell, Karen Matiatos, Ronald Roth, Ann Wood, Shelly Roth (age 1), and son John Edward Roth Jr.

Jack created a legacy of love and laughter which will live on forever.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
Burial will be held at a later date.
