He married Joan Benitz in 1995, and they shared a life filled with laughter and love until the last moment of his earthly life. Jim was interested in everything, but his two passions were hunting and dogs. He enjoyed sharing his love of hunting and shooting with his children, grandchildren, and many friends. Jim loved raising and training Labs, and it brought many people into his life. He enjoyed many lasting relationships with people he met through his North Country Labs business. Jim and Joan enjoyed traveling and going to the movies. He loved reading and watching westerns, naming his current companion Louis L’Amour after his favorite author. He loved history, especially the history of his family, and it brought him joy sharing stories and memories of his life with his kids and grandkids. He had a fearless spirit and went parasailing, skydiving and shared a hot air balloon ride with his daughter, Shawn. He was always looking for his next adventure. Jim loved and was loved by his and Joan’s families and was blessed with a great group of friends. His loss leaves a hole in the hearts of the many people who were touched by his love.
