Jesse Ernest Escobar was born in the St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Drayton, ND on July 12, 1958. He was the first born to Ricardo and Delia Escobar. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1977 and enrolled at the Moler Barber College in Fargo North Dakota, graduating in February 1980.
On September 13, 1980, Jesse and Marlys (Kirkeby) Escobar were united in marriage. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND and together raised four children while Jesse earned his Master Barber license and built his own barber shop business – MayPort Barber Shop in Mayville, ND.
Jesse enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He especially loved spending time with and cooking for his family. He was known for his quick wit and kindness. He shared his love of old music with his children during family road trips and cookouts. His family always knew he could be counted upon to help with whatever situation arose.
Jesse passed from this world on Monday, April 4th 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Marlys, children Katie Larsen (Bob Sirek), Jessica (Sam) Reile, Lindsay Escobar (Tom Alane), and Nick (Sophie) Escobar, along with eight beloved grandchildren: Isabella, Sophia, Abby, Ethan, Jasper, Theodore, Cecelia, and Eleanor. He is also survived by his mother Delia, four sisters and their families, and additional extended family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
A Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2022 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Masks are appreciated but not required.
