Jeffory G. Curtis, 59, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Jeffory was born April 15, 1963, in Golden Valley, MN, the son of Rodney & Darlene (Miller) Curtis. In 1963, he and his family relocated to Grand Forks ND, and then in 1971 to Thompson, ND where he spent the rest of his youth.
In 1987, he married Ellen Mickelson. In 1999, he married Holly Ust and together they had a daughter, Shelby. In 2002, he married Tonya Knepper.
Jeff was a very kind and giving man. He was able to make friends with just about anyone if he had ten minutes. He loved animals, music, riding his Harley, antique/treasure hunting, but mostly he loved spending time with loved ones. He would spend hours listening to different types of music with the volume turned as loud as it could go. While looking for antiques and treasure he would always have someone else in mind, whether that family, friends or someone he just met.
He loved his family and friends very deeply. His loved and cared for his step children and step-grandchildren as much as if they were his own. When it comes to his daughters, Shelby and Kassie, they were his pride and joy. Jeff did everything for Kassie while he was married to Tonya. Whether it was help with homework, watch cartoons, or fight away boogie men. He made sure to come to see Kassie and Shelby every chance he could even if he didn’t have money for gas to drive into town. He always found a way to see them. He would do anything for his children. He even took in other children as his own making sure everyone had a safe place to sleep and eat. He was the dad that other dads couldn’t be.
The final months of his life he was excited to become a grandpa again to his first grandchild from Shelby. He talked often about wanting to do daycare and spend as much time with him as possible. He would tell anyone and everyone who listened about his future grandson. When he first found out Shelby was pregnant he couldn’t stop smiling, he was so proud.
He is survived by daughter, Shelby (Jacob) Curtis and his future grandbaby, Finley Jeffory George Gonzalez; stepsons, Bryant (Amanda) Barstad, Cris (Randee) Barstad, and Andy (Autum) Barstad; step-daughters, Kassie Kuntz and Kaylee (Elliot) McCloud; several step-grandchildren; his siblings, Valerie (Jon) Grzeskowiak, Gregory (Susan) Curtis, Laurel (Richard) Thompson, and Douglas (Denise) Curtis, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
