Jeanne (McAlpin) Gullickson passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Altru Hospital.
Jeanne was born on July 19, 1932, in French Camp, California to Francis and Dora (Cowden) McAlpin. She graduated from Manteca Union High School, Manteca, CA. Jeanne worked as a telephone operator, salesclerk, and CNA, but her job she loved best was being a mother. Much of her free time was spent on her artwork and writing. Jeanne won many ribbons at county fairs for her paintings and had some of her poems published in local newspapers.
She married Elton (Bud) Tangen on September 5, 1953, and had four daughters.
She married Warren Gullickson on June 7, 1972.
She was proud to be an older-than-average student at Mayville State and State School of Science (Wahpeton) studying graphic arts. Since April 16, 2016, she has resided at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND. Some of the residents would comment, “There goes ‘Speedy’” as she zipped by in her wheelchair. Her favorite pastime at the nursing home was to make jigsaw puzzles with family.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters Patricia (Arden) Berggren, Grand Forks, Janice Tangen, Grand Forks, Pamila Tangen (Roberta), Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren Rachael (Robert) Neil, Crystal (Blake) Johnson, April (Clif) Berggren-Batts, and Jonathan (Samantha) Berggren; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
