It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Jeanette Thomson (Burnell), who left us peacefully on March 23, 2025, at the age of 60. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jeanette touched the lives of everyone she encountered with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Born on February 10, 1965, in International Falls, MN to James and Mary Johnson. She grew up in International Falls and graduated from Littlefork/Big Falls School in 1983. She worked in various customer service positions throughout her career until she was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2012, it was at that time she had to stop working.
Jeanette was first a mother, and her love for her four children was boundless. She dedicated herself to ensuring their happiness, teaching them the importance of kindness, hard work, and resilience. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the importance of family.
Jeanette had a love for her children, grandchildren, attending events in which her grandchildren participated, family, reading, playing games on her computer or tablet, playing heated games of Yahtzee and cards, and competing in her weekly pool league with her friends. She found joy in the little things, and it was through these passions that she connected with others. Whether through a homemade meal, a heartfelt conversation, or a shared moment of laughter, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Chad Johnson of International Falls MN, Nicole Johnson of East Grand Forks MN, Kimberly Burnell International Falls MN, Erin (Tyler) Reinke of Republic MO, grandchildren, Alexys, Trevor, Tommy, Tristan, Parker, and Dawson. Her brothers Jimmy, Kevin and Gary Johnson, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Johnson, as well as her beloved dogs Chloe and Pippi.
Though we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved. Her lessons, her love, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us as we move forward in life.
Jeanette’s family would like to send a special thank you to Marshall County Group Homes and Red River Valley Hospice for making her remaining time the best it could be.
A Celebration of Life is planned for May 25th, 2025, from 2-5 pm at the Rainer Community Center in Rainer MN.
