Jim Deziel, 86, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Monday, October 24th 2022, at his residence in Grand Forks, ND.
Jim was the youngest of 5 siblings of Roy and Mary Louise (Lou) Deziel. Jim graduated from Sacred Heart in East Grand Forks in 1955 and joined the Marine Corps shortly after. Jim served in the Marines until 1958. Shortly after serving in the Marines, Jim met and married Patricia Johnston of Grand Forks in 1964. Jim and Pat had 5 children and were married until 1985. Jim worked as an electrician for the union until the year 2000. By that time, he had met his life-long companion, Bonnie Monson at the lake, where he lived and loved.
Bonnie and Jim decided to become “snowbirds” and bought a home in Mission, Texas, where he enjoyed golfing, eating Bonnie’s awesome cooking, and meeting new friends. They spent the long winters in Texas and came back to Moose Lake, Minnesota when the weather warmed up. Jim enjoyed fishing and working in his garage at the lake. Jim was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan and never missed watching a game on TV.
He is survived by his children: Kim Greene, Lori Deziel, Paula (Duane) Koepke, Brian (Tami) Deziel, and Steve (Angie) Deziel; his grandchildren: Aleisha, Leah, Lisa, Tim, Garrette, Jessie, Drew, Hadley, and Callie; and his great-grandchildren: Justice, Korra, Izabella, and Julious.
He was preceded in death by his father Roy Deziel, mother Mary Louise Deziel, brother Robert Deziel, sisters Genevieve Mellum, Madonna Valentine, and Ann Deziel.
