Born on June 6, 1953, in Norton, Virginia, James was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Mathias, his son, Jason Swoll, his granddaughters, Ivie Turner and Taylor Weigel, his grandson, Ian Mathias, his great-grandson, Bentley Weigel, and his brother, Jerry Hamilton. James was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Coomb, and his father, Dudley Hamilton. James served his country with dedication and honor, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant during his 25 years of military service. His commitment and bravery in the military were commendable. After his military service, James pursued a career as a Radiology Technician at Altru Health Systems. His expertise and dedication in the field were greatly appreciated by his colleagues and patients. James L. Hamilton will be remembered for his selfless service to his country, his professionalism in his career, and his love and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2032 at 6:00 p.m. at Amundson's Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will take place 1 hour before the start of the service. The funeral home has been entrusted with assisting the family during this difficult time.
