SERVICE TIMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED DUE TO UPCOMING WEATHER
James Lundin Eck, 77, of Grand Forks, ND died unexpectedly at Altru hospital on December 23, 2019.
Jim was born November 2nd, 1942 to Samuel and Enola (Lundin) Eck and grew up as the youngest of 6 children on a farm near Bismarck. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and minor in computer science from NDSU. He served in the army in Germany during the Vietnam War from 1965-1967.
Jim met the love of his life, Gerri Ault, while at NDSU, and they married in 1967. They lived in Fargo for 10 years where Jim was employed with NCR as a computer salesman. They moved to Grand Forks in 1977 where Jim worked as a salesman for Butler Machinery for 25 years. He treated his customers as friends.
Jim was quick witted, and loved to joke around. If you sat with him around table of cards or a cup of coffee you would surely hear a story or two. Jim and Gerri traveled to 45 countries around the world together. He loved to tinker in the garage and work on his Model- T cars.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Gerri, daughter Lisa Richardson, her husband Fred and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Avon, IN; son David Eck, his wife Sara, and their girls, Lydia, Jaimie, and Rachel, of Grand Forks; and daughter Laurel Crosby, her husband Bill, and their children, Lily, Nora, Owen, and Micah, of Cavalier, ND. He will also be remembered by his sisters, Shirley Nelson, Babe Cassel, and brother Donavon Eck all of Bismarck, ND, along with his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Eck and a sister, Virginia Eck.
His family and friends will dearly miss him.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31 at Zion Methodist Church in Grand Forks.
Visitation will be Monday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Zion Methodist Church in Grand Forks. Visitation will continue the hour prior to the memorial service in the church.
Inurnment: Later 2020 at the ND Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
