Irvin Harry Olson passed away December 28, 2019 surrounded by family at the age of 89.
He was born April 3, 1930 to Harold and Anna Olson. He was born and raised in rural Bagley, MN. He grew up on the family farm and went to a country school. He lived there until moving to ND for work.
He married the love of his life, Mildred Hughes September 8, 1951. They eventually settled down in Grand Forks, ND where they raised their 5 children and he started his successful company, Olson Construction. He was a man of many trades and put his skills and hard work into building the family cabin in Lengby, MN where many cherished family memories have been made. He was the glue that held us together and the foundation of our large family.
He lived for his family, had the biggest heart and his charisma touched many. He had a great sense of humor. He was always smiling and always looked forward to seeing friends and family. He was selfless when someone needed help. In the eyes of his family and especially his grandkids, he was truly the Greatest! He is the exact definition of being young at heart and was always on the go.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mildred Olson; daughters, Deborah Cariveau, and an infant daughter; brothers, Richard Olson and Harlan Olson; and a sister, Violet "Sunny" Archibald.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Christy) Olson, Mark (Shawn) Olson, Marcy (Fred) Larson and Shirley (Randy) Johnson; his 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews he adored.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks.
